• Do not clean your cabinets with anything other than soap and water with a soft rag or sponge.
    • Do not use abrasive sponges (Mr. Clean), cleaners, scouring pads, harsh detergents, ammonia solutions, glass cleaners or powdered cleaners on wood surfaces.
  • To polish cabinets, apply polish to a clean, soft, lint-free cotton cloth and wipe in the direction of the wood grain. Do not apply polish directly to the surface you are cleaning, and ensure area is dry before moving to the next.

  • In wet areas with the potential for standing water (i.e. bathrooms and kitchen sink cabinets): clean spills and standing water immediately. Prolonged exposure to spills, foods and liquids may discolor your cabinet finish and potentially warp the wood.

    • Do not drape damp towels over cabinet doors. Over time, this moisture can cause permanent damage to the doors.

  • Direct sunlight has the potential to fade wood cabinets. Blinds, curtains, and UV furniture polish help protect wood from UV rays.

  • Keeping your home set to a moderate temperature (60 – 80 F) and moderate humidity (30% - 60%) will minimize the chance of cabinets expanding and contracting with changing weather conditions.
